The Trek

Nepal Trek Direct offers this great trek and climb in the company of our strong and expert guide and staff showing you the wonders of the Himalayas, its culture, and the art of climbing peaks.

After a scenic flight to Lukla and then walking through interesting farm villages of Sherpa people with impressive culture then reaching famous Namche Bazaar, here with rest and acclimatization the trek leads higher past beautiful Thyangboche monastery. The walk heads through the forest to reach the windblown country of the high Himalayas to reach Everest base camp, surrounded by giant peaks, glaciers, and tumbling huge boulders of the ice of Khumbu Icefalls, certainly a once in a lifetime and mind-blowing experience amidst the world highest mountains that encircles basecamp and high Kalapathar hilltop at 5,545 m.

From here heading to our main highlight for the climb of Island peaks also called Imjatse Peak summits at 6,189m/ 20,305ft and climbing grade as PD + ( Peu Difficile / little technical difficulties and walking on glaciers) the grade as per Swiss / French Alpine System.

After much preparation, our guide will lead you to the top of the summit where you will feel on top of the world with a high altitude at above 6189 m. Island Peak Climb with Everest base camp trekking ends at Lukla with a flight back to Kathmandu, after an enjoyable moment around the world’s highest peaks.

Accommodation:

You will arrive in Kathmandu where you will be greeted and 3* hotel accommodation will be provided. On the trek, the accommodation will Lodges or what is known as a teahouse (Mountain hut). All accommodation is on a twin-shared basis. A single supplement will be served on request and at an additional cost. Lodges in most places only have shared washing and toilet facilities. Also, please note that single rooms are readily available in Kathmandu and the trekking regions at lower elevations but it might be difficult to find them at higher elevations. Regarding the budget, the hotel accommodation can be upgraded and downgraded in Kathmandu.

Food:

On your trek, you will experience authentic Nepalese cuisine as well as more common international food (Tibetan, Continental, Italian, Indian, etc.) Breakfast and dinner will be served in the Lodge where we spend the night and lunch will be served on the way to the next destination. All meals will be provided while trekking while only breakfast in Kathmandu.

Electricity facilities in trekking lodge:

Some villages will have hydropower lines but most commonly there will be a solar power system. There are likely to be battery charging facilities in most of the Lodges but for these facilities, there may be a separate charge (a cost of about 1USD for 1hour of charge).

Outline itinerary:

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu
Today, you will arrive at the Tribhuvan International Airport and meet our representative who will transfer you to your hotel. For the rest of the day, you can indulge in explorations around the city. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 02: Free day in Kathmandu for climbing preparation
Today is a free day and you can spend it to explore the Kathmandu valley premises. Return to your hotel and meet our guides and porters who will accompany you during the trek. Get all your stuff and necessities together. In the meanwhile, you can also explore around the valley, given you can squeeze a slight tour in your schedule. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 03: Fly to Lukla (2840m) & Trek to Phakding (2610m)
Wake up early and get on a flight that leads to Lukla. Lukla is the gateway of the Everest region and it is from here that we shall commence the trek. Upon arrival in Lukla, get your stuff sorted and later walk uphill and go through cascading waterfalls and mountain setting. After going through a gradual descent and passing Nurning village, we arrive at Phakding. Overnight stay at Phakding.

Day 04: Trek Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3440m)
The majority of the day will be spent on walking along the banks of the Dudh Koshi River and heading towards the destination, which is the Namche Bazaar. The trail provides amazing sights of Thamserku (6608m), Lhotse (8414m), and the Everest (8848m). The walk is long and we will finally arrive at the biggest Sherpa settlement of Namche Bazaar. The walk is along an uphill trail but is definitely worth it. Overnight in Namche Bazaar.

Day 05: Acclimatization day at Namche Bazaar (3440m) day hike to Khumjung village.
Today we shall not do any trekking but instead focus on adapting to this high altitude. We will explore the Namche Bazaar, its Sherpa inhabitants, and their lifestyle. We shall hike to the Khumjung village and visit the Edmund Hillary School. We can also visit the nearby museum which houses the scalp of a Yeti. Overnight stay at Namche Bazaar.

Day 06: Trek Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3860m)
Leaving Namche Bazaar, we go through Phunki. After observing the quaint lifestyle of its inhabitants, we trek along the Imja River. Passing Debuche, we move through meandering trails to reach Tengboche. This village houses an amazing monastery from where we can see the majestic views of the Everest vistas including the Mt. Everest (8848m) itself. Overnight stay at Tengboche.

Day 07: Trek Tengboche to Dingboche (4410m)
Walk through the lush coniferous forests and stand in awe at the sheer beauty of mountains like Everest (8848m), Lhotse (8414m), and Ama Dablam (6856m). We need to cross the Imja River and walk on the upper Pangboche trail. As we go through barley fields and potato fields, we arrive at the beautiful Dingboche village. Overnight stay at Dingboche.

Day 08: Trek Dingboche to Lobuche (4910m)
The trail on this day sees a sharp increase in elevation and we have to walk on the steep terrain. After having a quick lunch at Pheriche, we battle on the rising trails. After walking through Thukla and crossing Thukla Pass (4830m), we arrive at Lobuche. The Lobuche Glacier offers great company on the trek today. Overnight stay at Lobuche.

Day 09: Trek Lobuche to Gorakshep (5140m) Visit EBC
Our objective for the day is to reach the majestic Everest Base Camp. The walk to the base camp involves going through Gorakshep. The walk is pretty straining and we have to battle frigid temperatures too. After walking for a while, we arrive at the base camp where we can see numerous tents and trekkers. We can observe the amazing mountains like Nuptse (7861m), Pumo Ri (7165m), and the Khumbu Glacier. Overnight stay at Everest Base Camp.

Day 10: Visit Kalapatthar (5545m) Mt Everest view/trek to Dingboche Village (4410m)
Today, we wake up early and make our way to the vantage point of Kalapatthar. We can catch surreal glimpses of the Everest region and the glowing sunrise. The peaks of the Mt. Everest (8848m), Mt. Nuptse (7861m), Lhotse (8414m), and Cho Oyu (8188m). From here, we retrace our steps back to the amazing Dingboche village. We initially trek along the Khumbu Glacier and, later, follow the descending trail to Dingboche. Overnight stay at Dingboche.

Day 11: Rest day at Dingboche Village (4410m) get final to prepare for climbing / overnight stay at teahouse lodge
Today, we spend our day in Dingboche village and conserve our energy and strength. We shall interact with the locals residing here and later learn about the culture and traditions here. We also learn the proper usage of trekking equipment. Meanwhile, the peak climbing leader will also brief us about the details of the climb. Overnight stay at Dingboche village.

Day 12: Trek to Island Peak base camp/ meet all the climbing staff members/ have lunch and check it all the climbing gear and instruction
The trail from Dingboche initially stops at Bibre. We walk across the Imja valley in order to reach Chhukung. From here, we walk on a steep trail below the Lhotse glacier. As we trek ahead, we cross the route of the Imja and Lhotse glacier moraines and finally arrive at the Island Peak Base Camp. Overnight stay at Island Peak Base Camp.

Day 13 & 14: Island Peak base camp to Island Peak summit (6,189m/20,305ft),back to base camp: 10-12 hours

Climb to Island Peak high camp and rest at tented camp/ about 2:00 am starts summit of the Island Peak (6189m) and after summit back to base camp/have a lunch
Starting the climb early in the morning, we, initially, head to the high camp and,then, make the climb to the summit. The high camp sits just 200 meters from the base camp. The ascent is difficult as it involves going through icy paths, snowy slopes, and frigid temperatures. The ascent from high camp involves the usage of trekking equipment. After climbing for a while, we reach the summit. The summit exhibits a sublime Himalayan grandeur including views of the peaks in the Everest massif itself. We head back to the base camp after completing the climb. Overnight stay at Island peak base camp.

Day 15: Trek back to Dingboche (4410m)
From the Island Peak base camp, we retrace our steps and head to Dingboche. The trail starts to see a decrease in elevation and later takes you through the Imja valley. We shall take a quick break at Chhukung and later continue towards Dingboche. We can explore the Sherpa heritage and monasteries including the Dingboche Monastery while in the village. Overnight stay atDingboche.

Day 16: Trek back to Namche Bazaar (3440m)
We shall walk on the banks of the Imja Khola, and take some time to explore the Tengboche monastery. The trail goes downhill and later crosses the Dudh Koshi River. We go through juniper forests and keep a lookout for the diverse wildlife in the thick of the Sagarmatha National Park. We finally reach the army camp at Namche Bazaar after walking for a while. Overnight stay at Namche Bazaar.

Day 17: Trek back to Phakding (2610m)
The trail to Phakding involves walking on the Bengkar valley. We later cross the Dudh Koshi River and spend some time in the Chuthawa and Monjo villages. We can observe the enigma of the Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi rivers along the way. After walking further downhill, we arrive at Phakding. Overnight stay at Phakding.

Day 18: Trek back to Lukla / Overnight stay at teahouse lodge
From Phakding, we begin the walk back to Lukla. The trail initially leads us to the Chheplung village and later transcends into the lush greenery and vegetation. We can catch glimpses of Mount Khumbila (6367m)and the mighty Mount Everest (8848m). Upon arrival in Lukla, we head to our hotel. Overnight stay at Lukla.

Day 19: Early in the morning, transfer to airport and fly back from Lukla to Kathmandu
Wake up early and head to the airport for a quick flight back to Kathmandu. Observe the Himalayas from your window as you bid your farewell to the Himalayas. In Kathmandu, you can choose to rest in your hotel or explore the city. Food and souvenir hunts are good options as well. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 20: Free day in Kathmandu for personal activities or join the onward program.
Today is a free day in Kathmandu and you can either explore the Kathmandu valley or indulge in some personal activities like shopping and relaxing. The wellness centers in the Kathmandu Valley offer great services at reasonable prices too. If you are free, then you can take additional trips as well. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 21: Final departure.
Today is your final day in Nepal and our representative will drop you off at the Tribhuvan International Airport for your final departure. We hope to see you soon for your next travel plan in Nepal.
