The Trek

Gokyo Valley is one of the most beautiful valleys in the Everest region. Gokyo lake trek has a lot to offer. Gokyo is home to Gokyo-Ri ridge and five glacial lakes. The particular aspects that make this such a unique trek include; views of Nepal’s biggest glacier; Ngozumpa and the Mountain, Cho Oyu.

On this trek, you will experience the combined trekking routes of Gokyo Lake trek and Gokyo-Ri Trek. The classic Everest Base Camp Trek is one of the busiest routes in the Khumbu region, but you will find that the Gokyo Lake Trek is a great alternative.

There will be views of Everest without too much stress. Gokyo-Ri is considered among the finest viewpoints of Everest, and it also allows close-up views of Thamserku, Cho Oyu, Everest, Amadablam, and other peaks of the mountains around. Gokyo-Ri is said to offer even more clear views than from Kalapattar.

The Gokyo Lake trek route follows the least crowded areas. We will leave the main trekking trail towards Everest Base Camp from Sanasa and proceed through Dole to Machhermo. We will enjoy views of Machhermo peak and visit Machhermo village which is said to be the land of the abominable snowman or Yeti. We will visit a local monastery and you will see the skull of a yeti before continuing the journey to Gokyo Valley.
